For qualified individuals in rural counties, TLSC can give information and advice regarding eviction relief. Attorneys can negotiate with landlords so tenants can stay in their homes. Attorneys can also help tenants access local rent and utility programs.
Eligibility:
Must be income eligible. Priority goes to Texans who live in a rural Texas county as defined by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (includes Angelina County, Jasper County, Newton County, and Tyler County)
Must prove you are behind on rent/utilities or are being evicted from your primary residence. Must show that you are in danger of becoming homeless or at risk of living in an unsafe/unhealthy living environment. Must be experiencing financial hardship or are receiving unemployment.
